APRIL NEWSLETTER This months issue includes the following items:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqy6F5sBoP8 It's always gratifying when an F4CP advertisement featured in a prominent publication has a substantial impact. Generally, this impact is most heavily felt by doctors, whom share success stories about new patients coming in with copies of the Foundation's latest advertisement. However, one particular ad, which featured General Halstead and appeared during the NCLC in POLITICO - - one of three niche publications distributed in Washington D.C. and a favorite amongst Congress and their staff, continues to resonate with a number of parties. As mentioned in an earlier F4CP report, this ad generated many favorable comments by members of Congress who greeted the doctors and students in attendance of the NCLC. In addition, a New York Times reporter made an inquiry regarding the ad and a staff member of the Congressional VA Committee, whom Halstead previously knew, engaged the General in relative communication. During their discussion, he expressed his interest in getting her to testify at a congressional hearing regarding VA benefits. Coming as an unexpected surprise, it presented Halstead with an extremely great opportunity. During this same conversation, Halstead mentioned the lack of response received by Tami Duckworth, Assistant Secretary for VA Affairs, regarding a meeting request she had sent to discuss chiropractic issues. Within the following week, Duckworth contacted Halstead and they have arranged to get together shortly. FOUNDATION SPONSORS TWO SPEAKERS AT PROMINENT BUSINESS CONFERENCE In its ongoing efforts to increase the number of positive chiropractic messages to the business community, the Foundation will be sponsoring two speakers at the CDHC Solutions Forum East on May 11-12 in Atlanta, Georgia. The CDHC conference will bring together employers, TPAs, benefit brokers, consultants and regional health plan administrators. Both sponsored speakers will participate in a workshop entitled, "Value Based Design Fuels Patient Engagement". Niteesh Choudry, M.D.,Phd, Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and a co-author of the Milstein report, will be presenting the conclusions of the 2010 white paper, Outcomes-Based Contracting: The Value-Based Approach for Optimal Health with Chiropractic Service. Laura Carabello, Principal, CPR Strategic Marketing Communications, will chair the presentation and help to yield a successful discussion regarding the role of chiropractic care in innovative health and benefits management. In 2011, the F4CP has already participated in the following conferences: - 2011 Employer Health, Human Capital and Wellness Congress - IBI/NBCH Health and Productivity Forum sponsored by the National Business Coalition on Health F4CP AS A CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION - - FOUNDATION FOR CHIROPRACTIC EDUCATION Though you may already be aware, the Foundation has been approved as a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation. Known as the Foundation for Chiropractic Education, this organization complements the efforts of F4CP, 501(c)(6), in educating the public regarding chiropractic care. Look for its web address in future advertisements. Due to its 501(c)(3) status, all its donations are treated as charitable contributions by the IRS. If you are currently contributing through a chiropractic business, you have the option of deducting the contribution from either the 501(c)(6) or 501(c)(3). We advise consulting your financial contact to determine which opportunity is best for you. Please contact F4CP Representative, Skye Beck, at skyedevivibeck@yahoo.com or 866.901.F4CP (3427), to have future contributions donated to the 501(c)(3) as a charitable contribution. Like the F4CP, all monetary support collected will be used for public relations activities ONLY. The F4CP continues to strengthen its mission by aggressively responding to articles in prominent publications. Recent letters to the editor, signed and submitted by General Halstead, include to the Seattle Times and Sacramento Bee, in response to an article addressing the strenuous effect the military's protective gear has on our soldiers, and another to TIME magazine regarding an article on chronic pain, specifically associated with fibromyalgia. Most recently, another F4CP Spokesperson, Dr. Gerard Clum, has also submitted a letter to the editor to the Wall Street Journal regarding their article on tension headaches. The F4CP continues to monitor the publications for published editorial pieces. Though, due to the difficulty and competitive nature of publishing, it is important to see these responses as another opportunity to educate editors about chiropractic. Additionally, we place all responses on our consumer websites. Please click the link below to review any and all F4CP submissions. GENERAL HALSTEAD NOMINATED FOR SELF MAGAZINE CAMPAIGN Our F4CP student leaders have taken great initiative and nominated General Halstead as a candidate for the Woman Doing Good contest, which looks to publicize someone of extraordinary character whom is determined to make a difference. After conducting an interview with Halstead a 200 word narrative was submitted to the publication. The F4CP continues to be proud and commend the leadership of our F4CP student clubs. A New ad which features F4CP Spokesperson, General Halstead, addressing the great benefits chiropractic care can have for chronic fibromyalgia has been released! Similar to all other F4CP's ads/posters, this is accessible to monthly contributors ONLY and can be found on the F4CP website under communications. THE F4CP WEBSITE TO ADD A MILITARY/VA CORNER! Within the upcoming weeks, the F4CP will dedicate a complete section of its website to the issues surrounding the military and chiropractic. Seen as a much desired topic amongst the chiropractic profession, our "Military/VA Corner" will serve to provide the profession and the consumer public with a better understanding of the veteran and military policy rights, which VA/DOD facilities currently have chiropractic clinics and how to properly become involved with the VA/DOD to attain a contracted position. Please visit our website regularly for completion. Please look forward to the F4CP's upcoming webinars, scheduled for late May and early June. The first will be a sequel to our initial presentation on local marketing; though will focus on the importance and best way to conduct patient lectures. The second will feature F4CP Spokesperson, General Halstead, and will highlight some of the key principles of leadership. Look to May's newsletter for detailed information! White Paper Sponsorship: Role of Chiropractic Care in the Medical Home Model The Foundation is working with a leading firm, Discern Consulting, to develop a white paper focusing upon the role of the chiropractic doctor in the emerging Medical Home Model. Medical homes are an important component of Accountable Care Organizations and will be key to virtually all arrangements for healthcare delivery under the anticipated reforms. * Dr. Clum has recently joined the Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative, representing all F4CP members. This membership is a critical part of our medical home initiative and will help to successfully position the chiropractic profession in this emerging model of healthcare delivery. The F4CP wants to share their gratitude toward Hackensack, NJ chiropractor, Dr. Charles Calabrese. He welcomed the opportunity to accommodate the F4CP as they filmed their recently released TV spot on driving safety. It was a pleasure to work with Dr. Calabrese and we appreciate his devotion and passion to the chiropractic profession. THANK YOU!! The Foundation will continue to grow and provide more positive press and activity as more doctors join as monthly contributors. Reach out to your colleagues and ask them to join you as a contributor. THE SUCCESS OF THE FOUNDATION IS THEIR SUCCESS!
