F4CP PR UPDATE: NEW Study Reveals Specific Chiropractic Intervention Helps to Decrease Hamstring Injury in Professional Cheerleaders

The Foundation has recently distributed a press release regarding a new JMPT study, "The Effects of a Closed-Chain, Eccentric Training Program on Hamstring Injuries of a Professional Football Cheerleading Team", which concluded the closed-chain hamstring exercise intervention, provided by a D.C., greatly reduces hamstring injury and associated pains among professional cheerleaders. The season-long research is recognized as the first ever professional cheerleading study to be published in a peer reviewed journal. To read the complete release, please click below.

In addition to this release, the Foundation has decided to design a correlating advertisement to be featured in the July/August issue of American Cheerleader, an industry prominent magazine with a circulation of 151,496 and a "readership" of 1.1 million. Please look forward to the revealing of our new F4CP ad!!

 Employer Outreach Update

 Two New Significant Press Releases

This month the Foundation will distribute two press releases supporting the cost effectiveness of chiropractic care. Both will help to strengthen the Foundation's discussions within the employer community. The releases highlight the findings of two significant studies "Manipulation or Microdisketomy for Sciatica? A Prospective Randomized Clinical Study," which found spinal manipulation to be equally as beneficial as surgery in treatment of sciatica secondary to lumbar disk herniation and "Health Maintenance Care in Work-Related Low Back Pain and Its Association with Disability Recurrence," which concluded chiropractic care to be more valuable for low back pain than physician care and physical therapy.

In addition to widespread media distribution, the Foundation plans to design an ad that will focus on the findings of these two studies, to be featured in prominent business publications.

Professional Exposure to Business and Industry

The Foundation representatives recently met with Andrew Webber, President/CEO of the National Business Coalition on Health (NBCH), to discuss ways in which the Foundation and his organization can work together to increase the professions exposure within the business community. During the meeting they talked about ways to increase the profession's footprint at the various health clinics being established at major corporations like CISCO and on how interested associations can also join the movement. The NBCH is a coalition of employers and health groups, and we are currently enrolled in membership.

Future Events - Making a Difference

Regarding future events, the Foundation will be exhibiting and sponsoring speakers at the CDHC Solutions Forum East, May 11-12, 2011, in Atlanta, Ga. The Forum will bring together employers, TPAs, benefit brokers, consultants and regional health plan administers. Sponsored speakers will include, Niteesh Choudhry, M.D., Ph.D., Harvard Medical School and co-author of the Milstein Report, and Laura Carabello, President, CPR Strategic Marketing Communications. Choudhry and Carabello will present and engage in a discussion regarding the Milstein Report, which recommends closer relationships between the employer and chiropractic communities.

As mentioned in an earlier Foundation newsletter, we are in the process of developing a white paper regarding the inclusion of D.C.'s in on-site corporate clinics and the Medical Home Model. The Foundation is also considering sponsorship of a NBCH program in the fall to showcase both papers. We will have more details to follow.

 Foundation Training Schedule

In addition, the Foundation is planning to schedule a number of training sessions for those state associations and colleges that wish to assist us in our outreach program. These programs are expected to take place in a couple of months. Please look to future newsletters and alerts for final dates!

Foundation Production Schedule: Rice Radio Spots and Upcoming TV PSA's

The Foundation has produced both a 30/60 second radio PSA featuring Jerry Rice. The spot focuses on Rice's experience with chiropractic care and vehicular injury. The 30-second version has already been distributed to stations nationwide; please click the link provided below to listen. We will be releasing our 60-second version this upcoming June - Keep an ear out!

With the driving safety PSA completed, we have spearheaded the production of our next two TV spots, Fibromyalgia and Nutrition. The fibromyalgia PSA, which features General Halstead and another inspirational advocate, Lillian Aragones, is currently in the final stages of editing and will be released within the next month. The nutrition PSA, which provides an excellent description of how to live life to the healthiest, has been filmed and will go through a number of edits, before its expected release of late summer.

We encourage all those interested in viewing or listening to the Foundation's upcoming materials to visit the website: www.f4cp.com. Always remember as a monthly contributor all PR material is available for personal use.

Please visit our website to view a copy of the infamous Rodgers advertorial.

F4CP Responds to the L.A. Times

The F4CP continues to strengthen its mission by aggressively responding to articles in prominent publications. The most recent letter to the editor, signed and submitted by F4CP Spokesperson, Dr. Gerard Clum, was in response to an article featured in the L.A. Times addressing the complications of low back pain (LBP). Similar to previous articles responded to by the F4CP, this article failed to mention the benefits of chiropractic care.

Please click the link below to read the complete response as well as any previous F4CP submissions.

 Military Corner

After much consultation with representatives of the Veterans Administration, General Halstead and a few others, the F4CP has developed a section of our website which will be devoted to providing information to doctors, members of the military, along with veterans about the access to chiropractic care in the Armed Services and Veterans Administration. Doctors and their patients will find all featured information useful in learning about and handling these important issues. We hope to have this site live by 5/25/11!

Foot Levelers Contributes from Various Levels

Many, or most, are aware of the significant contributions made by both Kent Greenawalt and his corporation, Foot Levelers. Their support has helped to greatly increase public understanding regarding the benefits of chiropractic care.
